WAIT IT OUT
“Wait It out” is the first major independent release for Matt James. Upon the debut of the soft release of his first single, “Way Too Strong”, he garnered strong numbers for a new project with little to no promotion, other than a link on his personal socials.
"Wait It Out" depicts the mental struggle of heartbreak through the metaphor of waiting out a storm.
It starts:
"Damn all this rain on the rooftop. I'd give anything for the clouds to break."
The song then follow the journey of someone as they languish through their own personal storm.
James says of the song, "Having gone through a break up myself within the last year, the song became pretty personal to me. It really tugged at the ol' heartrings and it felt really cathartic to belt it out."
BIO
Every morning before school, when the alarm on his clock-radio went off in Rusk, TX, Matt awoke to the sounds of the only radio station that came in clear in his bedroom: KNUE - one of East Texas' largest country stations. In between the sounds of the morning show, he was treated to country's biggest hits from the last 30 years, and slowly learned to love the words to every song and the twang of a steel guitar. In the truck on the way to school, one could find a stack of mixed CD's filled with rock and roll. Everything from AC-DC to ZZ Top came crashing through the speakers and rattled between his ears, down to his soul. This mixture of rock and country eventually seeped right into his blood, and at the ripe young age of 20 years old, he helped found the band, Blacktop Mojo.
Something new has begun to emerge behind the scenes outside of the sludgy, heavy riffs of Blacktop, that hasn't forgotten rock and roll, but is a little closer to the twang that a young man heard in his bedroom every morning.

Now a seasoned road musician, after over a decade of touring, James plans to release a string of singles for his new project before gearing up to load up in the bus and take his songs on the road.
